Adolescence is a time of transition and great change for both parents and teens. Moving into adulthood, taking on more independence and responsibility can be threatening and challenging for both parents and teens. Navigating this time can be filled with conflict for even the most skilled parents! I have 15 years experience working with teens and their parents through this time of transition. Chemical dependency can threaten the healthy transition into adulthood and is a pervasive problem in our culture today. With my background in adolescent treatment for chemical dependency I provide intervention and support for substance abuse issues.
Sometimes the wounds experienced as children can have lasting effects and many find themselves as adults having difficulty in relationships or feel as though they are still living in trauma or anxiety. Healing those wounds with the support of others while practicing new ways of relating to others can change your life. Sometimes trauma from childhood can be the underlying cause of health issues in addition to relational/emotional struggles we face.
If you have tried dieting to only gain back your weight and more, you may need to look at some of the underlying issues and receive the support you need to be free from bondage to food; to eat, nourish, and celebrate a healthy body and achieve a healthy weight, permanently.
